We decided to skip church and head to the Sandwich Fair on
Sunday Sept 7th. We hadn’t
been to the fair in a couple years and it sounded like a fun idea. Plus we had never seen the draft horse pulls
and it sounded interesting. That morning
Brad had a bad cold he was fighting off and Joel was having a bad day. But we pretended everything was fine and
headed to the fair anyway.
While we were there we ran into several different friends
and it was fun to visit with all of them for a few minutes. A few minutes was all we had with the kids
with us! Not long after we got to the
fair the kids wanted some of the snacks we packed, well Joel didn’t like any of
them so there was a minor meltdown. Then
he found trail mix with m&ms in it and picked out all the m&ms. Then when it was lunch time we grabbed some
corn dogs. All three older kids love
corn dogs. Joel leaned over and accidentally
broke the top of Cecilia’s corn dog off….Meltdown. Kids all not behaving
perfectly…meltdown. Not getting to touch
every bunny in the rabbit tent…meltdown.
Discovering Vincent lost the second water bottle in 24
hours…meltdown. Having to watch the draft
horse pulls instead of walking around…meltdown.
Having to leave to head home….meltdown.
It was never the same kid or parent. Don’t get me wrong, there were
several good and fun moments (we saw many friends while there) and memories made but we probably should have just
stayed home! Once we got home, the kids
were happy, and played together and there was no fighting.
