We
normally go on a family vacation at the end of July or beginning of
August. It just works best with the
farming/spraying schedule. This year
between the baby arriving at the end of August and my sister getting married at
the end of July we had no choice but to plan a vacation for earlier in the
summer. My original plan was to go
toward Missiouri and the Ozarks and be gone for 7-10 days. Then it started raining…a lot. Rain meant spraying got delayed, so my backup
plan became Lake Shelbyville for 4-5 days.
Then it rained some more so I made a plan C which was Lake Geneva over
night and renting a boat on the lake. A
couple days before we left the ground finally dried up enough for Brad to get
some spraying done. So we adjusted our
plans again and waited for Brad to get his spraying done or for it to rain,
whichever came first. We ended up
leaving late at night on a Friday and staying in a WalMart parking lot about 2
hours from home. But we were on the road
and only on plan B, so we were happy!
The
kids didn’t sleep well, they rarely do the first night in the RV, especially at
the beginning of camping season. At 6am
I heard knocking on our door and went to the back and told Brad to go talk to
the guy at the door. It ended up being a
lady who asked Brad if anyone woke him up this morning. He politely said something like “other than
just now when you knocked.” After
everyone was up, Brad ran in and got some groceries and we hit the road. The kids were excited to get to the campground, but they love just being in the RV so they rarely care how long we have to drive somewhere.
