On Thursday August 21st Brad and Joel came to
pick Dean and I up from the hospital after Joel’s OT appointment. They arrived around lunch time and brought
lunch for me too. Joel was very happy to
get to come to the hospital to see the baby.
He even brought a sign he made with Ms. Lauren for Dean. It took a little while for me to get
discharged because the doctor was busy in surgery. Joel did well waiting especially because he
found out he could watch PBS and Brad was giving him rides up and down on the
bed. Anytime anyone came in the room he
would ask “What you do to my baby?” He
is already very protective of his brother!
Once we got home Joel helped Brad bring the baby carrier in
the house. My mom, Cecilia, Vincent,
Diane and Kristine decorated the house with blue and white streamers. Cecilia and my mom made a nice welcome home
sign for Dean too. As soon as we got in
the house we were given and tour of the decorations and then Joel wanted to
show Dean their bedrooms. Dean was still
in the carrier and Joel kept bending down to talk to him and hug him. If any of the other kids came near the car
seat or tried to talk to Dean, Joel lost it and started yelling at them. It was comical and not all at the same
time.
Shortly after we got home my mom left after spending a
couple days taking care of the kids.
That left Brad and I alone with 4 kids for the first time. It was mostly spent with the kids arguing
about whose turn it was to hold Dean.
They all love him a lot! Before
long Diane, Kristine, Keith, Sarah, Karoline, Bob and Craig all came to visit. Not at the same time, they all trickled in
and out of here and the kids were super excited to see their cousins,
grandparents, aunt and uncle and show off their decorations.
We managed to do bedtime successfully and the first night at
home wasn’t too bad!
