Hiking without the kids

Kasi, Mom, Dave, Brad and I all went hiking one day.  Kennidy’s hip was hurting her so she stayed back to help Grandma and Papa with the kids.  Brandon drove with us, but then went to hang out with his Grandpa while we were hiking.  Hiking was a lot of fun at first.  Lots of laughs, beautiful sights, funny looking cacti.  Then we got off the trail we thought we were on.  Then we were hiking way longer than we thought we were going to be.  Then Kasi’s foot started to hurt.  Then we did nothing but hike up hill.  Then we got passed by a lady going so fast we barely saw her and people that were running and biking.  Clearly we don’t hike a lot.  At one point we were fairly certain we were lost, but we figured it out.

Brad and Kasi...beginning of the trip we were all still having fun.

Brad....I don't know what he was doing.

While we were hiking we came up with a few ideas.  One was to text Alyse’s Brandon and tell him that his mission which he had to accept was to get his civilians (Alyse, Joe and Jill) to Grandma’s house by 3pm.  He said sure.  What else was he going to say?  He barely knew us and still wanted to impress us.  We knew it was nearly impossible because 2/3 of the civilians hate waking up early.  Then we started plotting amongst ourselves about playing a little joke on Brandon and pretending like he was on the Bachelorette meeting the family and pull him aside for serious conversations the night they arrived.  Over the course of 24 hours it turned into a very elaborate game.  Once again we figured Brandon would go along with it because he didn’t know us that well and was still trying to impress us.  I wonder how long that stage will last.

Silly boys!

Aren't we cute?

On the way back from hiking we tried looking for a park close to my grandparent's house.  When you live in a 50+ community there really aren't any playgrounds.  We were driving around random subdivisions and ended up asking for directions to a park.  We probably looked like a bunch a creepers.  We ended up finding a nice park and took the kids there to play and to run off some energy.  Not surprisingly Vincent quickly made friends with several other kids.  That night we all went out to a Mexican restaurant that had delicious food.  We had a bunch of laughs and headed home to watch a Duck Dynasty marathon and go to bed.  We weren’t very exciting after our long hike!

Fun drinks!
