Cecilia attempting to ride with all her babies. Gerald the giraffe fell out many times and she learned to leave her babies at camp. Notice the hillbilly gate and the road behind her.
Monitoring 4 kids on bikes while walking a slow old dog wasn't easy.
Dean got a lot of compliments on his bike. Even from random older kids in camp. He would ride and yell "Fastest bike ever!"
One happy kid!
The campground was nice. Several of the spots were right along the main road and the only thing between the campers and the road was a small sliver of grass. There were other spots set back a bit and on the campground road or near the main building. We ended up by the main road. 4 kids, 1 dog and nothing stopping them from running into the road. I couldn't even leave Dean alone outside for a second for fear he would end up in the road. The road was pretty busy and no one seemed to obey the speed limit. I set up our folding table on its side along with 3 sections of baby gates we had along plus some lawn chairs between our campsite and the road to stop the kids and Bristol from walking the wrong way. It looked ridiculous but I didn't care.
One cool kid who can make friends with anyone. Rarely he will remember their names.
By the end of the week he was cruising around and begging to go off on his bike with the big kids and their friends. You couldn't walk Bristol and keep up with Dean.
Burning off some energy.
Checking out the campground
When we arrived at camp we quickly put the jacks down, slid out the slide-outs, plugged in the RV, took Bristol for a walk, unloaded the bikes and bike trailers and headed out to explore. We found a beach and a lighthouse. We played at the beach for awhile and the kids' clothes were wet and covered with sand by the time we left the beach. I don't know what I was thinking not bringing any swimming suits, towels or sunscreen with us on our biking adventure that day. We were all very happy to be done driving for a few days. When we got back the kids started riding bikes around camp with us walking along and keeping a close eye on everything. That didn't last long by the next day they were zooming around on their bikes with their new friends and having a grand time! By the end of the day they were hard to find and when we did find them they would come back to camp for a few minutes and disappear again. They had a grand time!
The littlest beach bum
Loving life
Bike riding and playing on the beach. This kid was in heaven.
Chasing waves and attempting to stay dry. They didn't succeed.
Having a blast!
After the kids went to bed Brad and I came up with a plan for the day and kind of for the week. We were excited to be in Tybee Island, but also a disappointed it wasn't quite like Dauphin Island or quite like the Tybee Island website showed. Mostly we had a hard time because there was no actual bike path, it was just a road with cars. Brad would lead and I would follow and the kids would ride in between. I swear they would all ride in a perfectly straight line until a car came and then they would swerve all over and be in the middle of the road. It was anxiety inducing!
I had to physically hold them for the picture so they would stay still long enough to pose with me.
I was ruining their fun
They are all attempting to run away from me.
Sand monster
The first of many sand castles.
