Tuesday we decided we could all handle getting back in the RV for a short drive. We headed out in the morning for a trip to Fort Pulaski. Dogs are allowed at the fort so Bristol joined us on the adventure. There is no telling if she was happy she was there or if she would have rather been sleeping, but we like to pretend she enjoyed it.

The fort was used during the Civil War. There were many tunnels and passageways and rooms to explore in the grassy mounds around the fort. The kids loved running from area to area and seeing where they all lead to. Once we entered the fort there was more exploring to be done. There was a display about how the drawbridge worked and you could see the gears. Plenty of cannons to pretend to shoot. Wonderful signs with descriptions of different areas and equipment and a jail. You are able to go up to the top of the fort but there are no guard rails so we let Vincent be on his own, Brad and Dean and Bristol and I had a good grip on Cecilia and Joel. They would never intentionally go to the edge, but they get to wrestling around and goofing around and don't pay attention.

After we explored the fort we went on a bike ride around the grounds. Bristol rode in the extra bike cart and I pulled her around. She isn't light and half way I switched with Brad. From the outside of the fort you can see all the damage from a battle during the civil war. They said it took 6 hours for the fort to be captured and 6 weeks to get it back in working order. We ended up riding by the water near there and it was low tide. We saw these cool crabs that would scurry about on the sand and then dive into holes when you walked near them. It was cool!

In the early afternoon we packed up and headed for our dolphin boat tour. Bristol was also allowed to come on the boat as long as we promised she wouldn't bark and she wouldn't bite anyone. Two very easy promises to make. She slept 3/4 of the boat ride. Part of that with Joel laying on the floor and cuddling her. He saw some dolphins and then he was cold and Bristol was warm, so he cuddled her. It was very neat to see the dolphins.

Once we got back to camp the kids joined up the the kid bicycle gang and played. Brad and I monitored their movements and took Dean and Bristol for a walk. Brad and Vincent ended up riding to town to get something from the store and we all watched a movie and played a game before bed. Just some good, quality family time!

One of the great things about vacation is we play hard, but it also means the kids go to bed so easily and sleep so soundly! It is amazing!
