| Joel not looking tired and watching his movie |
Around 10pm or so we settled into the motor home. The dogs and Vince went right to bed. Joel had no intentions of sleeping and was wide awake. He has never not gone to bed in a pack 'n play or crib. I figured he would sleep in the bottom bunk if we laid down with him or he would just end up in our bed. No such luck. It turned out to be the longest night ever!
| 5 minutes into the trip home...3 sleeping kids |
First we tried just shutting the doors to the bunk area and figured he would eventually give in and fall asleep. Thirty minutes later he was sitting on the floor with his feet sticking out under the door and he was wide awake and not giving in. There are DVD players in the bunk so I put the headphones on him and put in a boring movie and hoped for the best. That lasted 30 minutes. That gave me enough time to put Cecilia in her little sleeping spot, a bassinet by our bed. I finally went and watched the movie with Joel and we both fell asleep for a little bit, until Joel fell out of bed!

After that we went and joined Brad in the big bed. Where Joel proceeded to thrash around and get upset and yell "NO!" if anyone touched him or tried to put a blanket on him. Somewhere in the process he fell out of our bed. About the time he finally settled down it was almost 4am and Cecilia was wake and ready to eat. After she ate we got about a couple hours of sleep before Joel started thrashing again and just being a crab. Brad looked at me and said "He is a typical Stewart male! Ornery, stubborn, and always right." It caught me by surprise to hear Brad say that. It is very true but to hear Brad say it was hysterical. We will be bringing the pack 'n play next time.
Despite our fun evening we had a great trip! It was relaxing and a ton of fun!
