The next morning once everyone in
our family finally woke up we headed inside to help with breakfast. Christina and Hunter have 6 chickens and they
let the boys feed the chickens and collect the eggs. Vince loved collecting the eggs and thought
it was fun to feed them.

Joel would just
play in the yard (it is fenced in!) and run down once in awhile to talk to the chickens.
He loved just seeing them and talking to
them!
Joel’s other love was their Boston
terrier, Luna.
Luna loved to play fetch
and had a green ball she played with.
Luna didn’t give that ball up easily and she would let Joel try to
wrestle it away from her.
At first he
would chase her and try to get the ball then he started sitting on the ground
by her and slowly moving closer.
Then he
would pretend he didn’t want the ball and when she least expected it he would
grab the ball from her.
After a little
while Luna would just drop it near him for him to throw.
That only happened a few times, but it was
very interesting watching Joel interact with Luna! While we were there Joel decided to steal Hunter's hat for an afternoon! He wore it every where and it was his new prized possession. After Joel went to bed the first night we hid it from him. I didn't want a melt down when we had to leave.

After our delicious breakfast
Brad, Hunter and Vince went fishing. While they were fishing we took the 3 littlest
kids to the park so Joel could run around and play for awhile. Before long we were ready to leave and we
started walking hoping Charlie and Cecilia would fall asleep. They did and so did Joel! We walked for a long ways talking nonstop the
entire time except when we were walking up some of the steep hills. Eventually we made it back to their house,
but as soon as we stopped the kids started to stir so we went back to walking
and talking!

The boys had a successful fishing
trip and caught some fish on their first cast!
I was told that Vince caught the first fish, Hunter caught the most fish
and Brad caught the biggest fish. I
guess Vince did a great job casting and really enjoyed fishing. He took turns fishing and using the fishing
net. Brad used Vince’s fishing pole too
and even caught his big fish with it.
One of the fish was injured when they were trying to remove the hook and
Vince really wanted to take it back to the house so I could fix it. I find that adorable that he has so much
confidence in my abilities, but luckily the guys convinced him it would be
better for him to be turtle food.

There are not very many people
that you can go a couple years without seeing, with only a few phone calls,
texts, or emails in between and show up on their doorstep and have it be like
we saw each other yesterday. That is how
it was seeing Christina! I had only met
Hunter on his wedding day and Brad had never met Hunter and it was so
comfortable for all of us to spend a day or so together. I wish it could have been longer! When the boys went fishing together Christina
and I didn’t have to worry about if they were having fun together because we
knew they would. It was great having
time to visit with such good friends and wonderful people! Now to figure out how to make the drive from
Illinois to New Jersey less than 14 hours…
