Is it a girl thing?

There a some things that Cecilia does that the boys never seem to do. For example, from a young age she would grab my hair brush and try to brush her hair, she loves brushing her teeth, she will wipe her own nose if you give her toilet paper (not very well, but the effort is there), and she wants to help clean up!  I can’t decide if it is because she is a girl, or because she is the third born and watches the rest of us all the time, or she is just amazing.  Brad thinks it is because she is a 3rd born child, just like him, and all 3rd born children are amazing!

Cecilia found some dirty socks

The thought of using a brush or even pretending to use a brush never occurred to Vincent until about 1 month ago.  Neither one of the boys were big fans of brushing their teeth.  The boys live to dump out boxes of toys.  Cecilia loves dumping out the boxes too, but then she immediately starts putting the toys away.  If you handed the boys Kleenex to wipe their noses you would have to argue with them a little bit before they did it.  Whatever the reason I am thankful for different personality.  Don’t get me wrong if Cecilia doesn’t want to do something good luck making her, but she is pretty willing to go along with the plans most of the time.

Cecilia carrying socks to the laundry

Cecilia loves socks.  She steals dirty socks off the floor all the time.  She will take clean folded socks and just carry them around the house.  It doesn’t matter who the socks belong to and she will open drawers to get them.  The other day she was carrying socks around our bathroom and Brad told her to go put the socks by the laundry (also in our bathroom but around the corner from where we were standing) and she did it by herself.  We spent the next 5-10 minutes giving her different articles of dirty clothing and asking her to put them in the laundry area.  She did it and was so happy to do it!  Vince got jealous that Cecilia was getting all the attention that he started picking up laundry too.  Now if we could just teach her how to sort laundry.

Up to no good!

Cecilia is a daddy's girl!  She loves her mommy and given the option usually chooses me, but she always makes sure that knows where Brad is.  She loves to say hi to him, kiss him, hug him and say "hi dadda," and "night, night, dadda."  I get to hear "MOM!"  in a very loud, demanding voice, because that is how her brothers say "mom" most of the time.  At the same age the boys liked wrestling with Daddy, but they were momma's boys!

Cecilia feeding her best friend.  I think Maisy puts up with Cecilia just so she can be fed!

Cecilia isn’t a flight risk.  At her age the boys would look at me and then take off running.  Cecilia on the other hand will run off, look back at me and smile and then come running back to me.  She will still wander off, so we still have baby gates set up, but it is nice to know she won’t go too far.

It is fascinating to me that 3 kids, living in the same house, with the same parents, can be so different, yet so alike!
