Party Games and a Red Balloon

We went to my friend’s birthday part a few weeks ago.  As we pulled up to the party Vincent and Joel couldn’t contain their excitement.  Not because they really know my friend but because they saw what the entertainment at the party was:  life sized games!  There was kerplunk, connect 4, tic-tac-toe, jenga, farkle, yahtzee and pick-up sticks.  And probably a few more I am forgetting about.  They were all made by my friend and her family.  They were AMAZING!!!  In addition to the great games there was delicious food and dessert!

Connect Four was my favorite

Cecilia liked the balloon bean bag toss

Kerplunk!  So cool!

While we were there Joel insisted that he needed to hold this red balloon that was part of the decorations.  Ammie was nice enough to share her birthday balloon with Joel.  Joel spent his time at the party carrying the balloon around to all his activities.  He then decided the balloon had to come home with us.  As the week went on the balloon visited the shop, went for a ride in the sprayer, a visit to the rabbit cage and everywhere else we went for the week.  Finally at the end of the week the balloon broke!  Brad, Diane and I were all standing around when it happened and we all held our breaths waiting for the melt down.  Joel calmly brought it to me and I told him I couldn’t fix it, he then ran off played without any sort of fit.  The kid never ceases to surprise me!

Side Note:  We don't force Joel to go in the bunny cage.  Heck, we don't even force the bunny to go in the cage, she has the run of the stall.  Joel chooses to go in the cage.  He then opens and closes the door 100 times and talks to the bunny while we all sit outside the stall waiting for him.  He doesn't like when we go in the stall with him.  He has taken to sitting on top of the cage too.  He is a silly kid but since this isn't a dangerous activity we just go with it!
